My Thoughts on Kylie Jenner Becoming the Youngest Self-Made Billionaire Ever

Kylie Jenner is on track to become the youngest self-made billionaire ever, ahead of even mark Zuckerberg, who became a billionaire at age 23. The 20-year-old beauty entrepreneur makes it to Forbes annual list of America’s richest self-made women with an estimated net worth of $900 million and she owns 100% of the company. Interestingly she built her $900 million fortune in less than 3 years.

The rules are changing, we live in a world where people can really leverage fame and exposure to build a global brand, experience is not particularly necessary these days when you have passion, consistency and the right connection.

However, I find Forbes to be evoking controversy amid its readers because from my understanding: the term 'Self-made' are people who have genuinely become successful through their own efforts, especially if they started life without money, education, or high social status. Kylie’s story is rather extraordinary; first of all she belongs to the 'white privilege' society, secondly she made her money through reality TV show along with her family so she had more than enough funds to facilitate her makeup business something that many budding entrepreneurs out there strive for through seeking loans from banks, funding organizations or saving up a portion of their salary each month to finance for their business.

When you have a pocket full of money, it makes entrepreneurship a lot easier.  Money can buy the right connections, influence, even the best marketing team and so forth. Kylie’s had more than enough money to put together a team of talented designers, branding experts.... etc. to push her venture out there coupled with her celebrity status which affected the sales growth of her cosmetics brand.

How do you put Mark Zuckerberg and Kylie Jenner in the same 'Self-made’ bracket? Mark is of a different pedigree. He can't be compared with Kylie at all because he created what Kylie uses to make her millions

People may try to discredit kylie but the truth is nobody builds a billion-dollar empire by luck, you can come from a wealthy family and have all the exposure but turning that into billions is no joke. Kim gave her the platform but what she did with it is worth celebrating. She did not ride on the family fame, she made the best of it. she leveraged the new internet technology called social media very well. She made great decisions. Sometimes it’s not about being born rich but leveraging on the opportunities that present itself.

If we all had the chance, money, platform, exposure as her can we pull it off like she did? She works for it so she deserves the accolade; there are a lot of famous celebrities in Hollywood who ventured into business and aren't as successful as she is. Let's give honor to whom honor is due
