10 Ways To Effectively Use Instagram As A Branding Tool For Your Business

The first thing people do when they visit your Instagram page is to scan your bio and the first 6 to 9 posts on your page. If neither are interesting or aligned, they won’t bother to follow you or visit your page again. As a business owner you need to have a plan of action; decide what, why and how often you will post and what you want people to do when they see your posts.

1. Complete Your Bio Thoroughly

Remove anything irrelevant to what you sell, use a relevant keyword on the first bold line – it’s searchable. Make your bio interesting, appealing and honest.

2. Use Hashtags

Use all 30 and scale down as your account grows and switch up every 3 months. Use relevant hashtags with 2-3 words and create or use custom hashtags

3. Be Authentic, Genuine, Transparent

This humanizes you. People can smell fake and lies and you don’t want people thinking you are a scam.

4. Engage

Ask questions. Show you care. Give and share your knowledge. Use call-to-actions, pay attention to the people who consistently comment on your posts, grow audience organically and remember do not buy followers or use auto bots.

5. Use Relevant Photos

Your posts need to connect with the followers. Avoid using pics of recognizable people unless the post is about them, otherwise use random photo stock or you. Captions should describe the picture.

6. Create Branded Templates

Use DIY platforms like canva.com, photolayers, wordswag. Use same font type, size and color palette

7. Use Video

People connect with you deeper. Show behind the scenes with Instagram Live/Stories and video Posts

8. Use The Collections/Save Feature

Keep track of events, clients, fans, etc

9. Measure and Analyze

The only way you know you’re improving is if you know what’s not working and make adjustment to what works best for your business.

10. Schedule your Posts

If you are always busy and don’t have time to post regularly on your Instagram page; it is best you schedule your posts using services like Planoly, Onlypult, Social sprout, Hoot suite...
